Divide the diameter of the Sun by the diameter of Mercury. Divide the numbers and exponents separately. Then adjust the number to be between 1 and 10, not including the 10. You must compensate by adjusting the exponent on the power of 10. Don't forget that division of powers of 10 require subtraction of the corresponding exponents. Scientific notation requires these rules.
(1.39x10^6) / 4.88x10^3) = 0.284 x 10^3 = 2.84 x 10^2.

The diameter of the sun is approximately 1.39 * 10^6 km.
The diameter of Mercury is approximately 4.88 * 10^3 km.
The number of times the diameter of the sun is larger than the diameter of Mercury:
1390 / 4.88 = 284.8360656
Answer choice:
C. 2.8 * 10^2 times larger
