what is the meaning of the verb to do when you ask a question?

example

you think you are right                             is a statement

do you think you are right?                      is a question

but      you think you are righ?                 is not a question

and in   you are right?   there is no verb to do and does not reverse the syntax, why?

Update:

@  affirmation? declaration? I'm using a translator..
