What types of operating systems do quantum computer use?

    In the very same way that regular computers need an operating system, quantum computers need one too. However, there is no quantum version of Windows, IOS or Linux.

    Not withstanding the link to the article in another answer here, it is really a mistake to think of a quantum computer as the kind of device that has an operating system and would be used like a laptop/tablet/tower. They are "computers" kind of in the sense that analogue computers or abacuses etc are computers. You can manipulate their inputs and they respond according to mathematical rules. But really the actual quantum part is more like a peripheral or module that you would set up and read using a conventional computer. 

    The fact is that pretty much everything most people do on their computer would not benefit from being a quantum system. QC's only have a use for certain types of algorithmic problem solving. You don't need that for streaming YouTube or playing games.
