Were there major ecological disasters before 800 years ago, on the Earth, due to climate change?

Update:

I am asking this on Yahoo UK

    Some of them, yes.

You certainly can't blame the K-T extinction event, and it would be a stretch to blame Krakatoa or Vesuvius on the climate, but there are certain ecological disasters that are indeed due to periodic climate change. The various ice ages come to mind, as well as the thawing and rising oceans that resulted in the flooding of Doggerland that caused the British Isles to become isolated from the European mainland.

    Noah's Flood.

    The subsequent Ice Age.

Yes, absolutely. Every time the earth experiences an ice age, which has been constant over the past history of the globe, the ecological systems has to make a dramatic change in trying to adapt during each and every cycle. Earth science 101.

I'm not sure what you mean by ecological disaster.  Every ice age exposed continental shelves and covered continents with ice.  That could be considered an ecological disaster.  There have been at least 24 ice ages before 800 years ago just in the last 2.67 million years.  Another example would be the medieval warming that happened a thousand years ago and disrupted agriculture and altered precipitation patterns.

    Yes, including long before modern

be i.ngs existed and?since human beings existed. Melting glaciers 10000.to 6000 years caused Mediterranean and Black seas to rise very quickly. There were large regional floods across the world, BUT there was NO global flood AT THE SAME TIME. Every culture on Earth has?some version of t he Flood story in their myths?and legends. Myths and legends often have real historical events as a kernel of truth.

During the Mesozoic Era temperatures were higher and there was 25% oxygen. That meant lightning strike fires were much fiercer and?spread faster?and?we're hotter than regional wild fires today. The ash and soot layers are in the geological record.

The difference between global warming 10000 years?ago and NOW was global warming. And cooling were natural caused by slow changes in the eccentricity of Earth's orbit and long term changes in solar activity like the Maunder and Dalton minimums, not caused by man since the industrial Revolution in Europe.  Or you could argue that Homo species HAVE contributed to global warming for since the agricultural revolution.

The extinction of the dinosaurs is probably the most famous. The extinction was not due to the direct impact, but to all of the dust kicked up into the atmosphere and blocking the sun for many years in a change of climate known as impact winter.

Another well known one is the PETM.

Please educate yourself. Climate change is a foolish conspiracy theory engineered by the radical left in order to undermine American industry.
