is it easier for an actor to portray a character with a similar name?

Erm...i played Tom Sawyer a few times, i responded to that name, i answered like him, accent and everything. Although i’m strictly method acting. Nothing about my personality is the same when i’m acting

No, not particularly.

I've seen a few shows with younger kids that will have the same first names as their character. Probably to make it a little easier.
Also, The Office, used their real names for some of their characters.

Not at all. What my name is has no relation to how I would choose to portray a character.

Not at all.
The character name has no bearing on being able to portray them to any actor.

A similar name to his or her own? No - of course not. Why would you think that?
