Is the earths spin slowing?

Is it possible that the earth's spin isn't slowing and is actually directed by the sun in which it will alway spin as long as its being influenced by our sun.

God dictates the rotation of the Earth! It has remained a perfect 24 hours (amazing how it fits so perfectly) in the 6000 years since He created the Universe!

It is slowing.  This can be seen in the fossil record (e.g. coral rings, layers of sediment in dried up lakes which have become shale).

its more possible  you dont understand what you are talking about the earths  ROTATION is its spin..  and  the ROTATION  has nothing to do with the  SUN..

THE ORBIT   does have to do with the  SUN

The sun had nothing to do with earth's spin. The earths spin is slowing down very slowly due to friction of the tides with the ocean bottom. Tides are caused by the moon.

Generally, Earth's rotation is slowing; it's a result off tidal forces of the Sun and Moon, and is called "tidal braking."   What happens is, the moon raises tides on the Earth;  the Earth's rotation carries that tidal bulge ahead of the moon, and the moon, in turn is attracted to the bulge from gravity - which accelerates the moon, and is boosting it's orbit (that's why the moon is moving away...) 

But, the energy isn't free - our day is slowly growing longer as a result of it.  

It's been discovered in the last few years that our day is actually *speeding up*, and it's thought to be a consequence of global warming.  Instead of the mass of water held in the mountains as snow, it's melting quicker, and running down to the ocean, so there's less mass further out from Earth's center of mass.   And - like an iceskater in a spin - when she pulls her arms in, her spin accelerates, the same thing is happening to the Earth.  So, in general - we're slowing our spin, but global warming, and Earthquakes also - can temporarily accelerate the Earth's rotation.
