is bikini for swimming?

    If it fits really well, it's fine for swimming (but can rarely withstand diving). But a lot of them are not well fitted, especially the tops, making them able to show more than the wearer wants from the force of the water in normal swimming or wave action.

    There's a reason women who surf where it's warm don't wear two-piece suits.

    Not really no, unless it fits very well and it's tight. Most bikinis were designed and meant to show off the goods. You move around to much them, do anything athletic and things have a tendency to pop out. Then you are literally the talk of the town.
