The poorest states have nobody to listen to except FOX News and Rush Limbaugh. There are no progressive voices in rural red states. FOX News is included in every basic cable package and Rush Limbaugh is free with any $10 AM radio. Progressive talk radio is only available in the rural Midwest and the deep south with a subscription to Sirius XM, which isn’t something poor people can afford.

Because the richer states subsidize  them to keep their taxes low.

@Anon - Brooklyn and the Bronx are not states.

Brooklyn is not poor, with the median income at $56,962 as of 2017.

The Bronx has a median income of $38,085 so not very high, but not poverty either.

New Jersey has a median income of $79,363.
