Financial companies will help if you ask them to but you need to be careful . For instance payment holiday does not mean an interest holiday so the interest is still racking up over a slightly longer time. Banks and creditcard companies may also work out repayment plans to make payments easier for you .

They are more likely to forgive ate or missed payments, not forgive the debt.

Ha. No. They won't. They don't even "forgive" your debt when you die. They will still be trying to collect from your estate when you die, if you have one to collect from.
