What does 'eager' mean in this context?

"Connie Corleone was a not quite pretty girl, thin and nervous and certain to become shrewish later in life. But today, transformed by her white bridal gown and eager virginity, she was so radiant as to be almost beautiful."

Why eager virginity? I don't get it

She's getting married- and she's excited to be finally able to have sex with her husband. I know it seems very quaint, but people used to wait until they got married to have sex.
