Why do people on Yahoo Answers ask Anonymous Questions?

Are they scared someone they know might see the question?

    Sometimes, there’s not a reason.

Sometimes, it’s personal and they don’t want anyone recognizing them.

Sometimes, it’s a rude question and they don’t want to be reported.

    There’s a lot of reasons.

Who cares if someone posts "anonymously"---except the officious losers who want to "report" or "cancel" those who posts "offend" them?

Because they can. Some people hide to avoid stalkers and harassers. Others hide so they can troll without their YA identity being known. The feature exists and may be used by anyone who chooses to. Each user's reason is their own.

Some places of employment have very strict rules about making any types of statements in public that might go against their stated public image.  While employees should have the right to say what they think on their own time, in the real world it does not always work that way.

Even a question or statement that seems innocent can be twisted by someone with an agenda.

For the same reason you keep creating new accounts to constantly post these chat violations.

There are quite a few reasons why people post anonymously.

One is that they don`t want harrassment if any other member dislikes their post.

Another is that they are not confident enough to show their real profile and are embarrassed by what they have posted.

They don't want others looking at their profile.

They think they can post vile content and no-one will know who they really are (except yahoo).

I expect there are many other reasons, and it IS very annoying at times.

Its one of the features that have caused many good members to abandon Y/A`s for good. Also the removal of comments has alienated many members.

Gone are the good old days of this site. JMO.
