Issue with volume on Samsung TV? ?

My husband just bought a used TV from someone on Facebook marketplace. It's Samsung brand and the guy said it's like 9 or 10 years old.

Sorry I don't know much else for information on it besides its like a 42 inch TV.

Anyway, after having our firestick plugged into it for a little while and not watching anything, the volume cut out. Would not work at all. But when it was powered off and back on, it was fine.

What could this be caused by?

Possibly a bad connection, or very likely a failing electrolytic capacitor.

Electrolytics are one of the worst necessities of all time.

Hardly anything electronic can be made without them,

and they rarely last more than ten years.

The one good thing about them is that as parts they are pretty cheap,

typically 80 cents to $3 each. Some cost more than that, of course.

A TV repair shop should be able to cure the problem.
