Am I allowed to make depressing art when I don't have depression? ?

I want to make some art that is sad/depressing (depressing might be a bit strong of a word idk). 

Said art wouldn't be about depression or any other mental illness specifically. However I personally have never experienced depression so i don't know whether I have the right to make the art.

It sounds like you are taking this leftist stuff to an extreme .  You don't have to be a cowboy to paint western art . You don't have to be a clown to draw one .
