Humans are primates. Primates are capable of violence for many reasons.

For example, the fight for territory, for competition food, for hunting, for social rank for species that are social, for self defense, for the right to mate. These are reasons why primates may become violent. Because we are primates, we have many of the same reasons why we may become violent. Primates can also become angry for some of these reasons listed above and for other reasons, and anger is often the reason we turn violent.

Feeling unloved, unimportant to anyone, not being able to give adequate care to others, lack of community, constant competitive opposition, failing family values, no refuge from sin, etc... People (who still want their soul) have an undying need for love. Gods love would be grand, but the love of a good community is workable for anyone. It's legal to try and murder someone's soul, but it's illegal for that someone to defend his soul with violence. Hatred is not the right defense anyways, but a lot of injustice is not only going on, but being strongly supported.
