Is this an allergic reaction?

I think I’m allergic to sunscreen in the form of lotion. A few years ago I wore it all day long, and I had rashes all over and my skin had broke out by the end of the day. I’ve tried other brands since then but every single one I’ve tried, makes my skin feel like it’s burning once I’ve applied it. I haven’t left it on all day again, so I’m not sure if it would give me a rash (I always wash it off when it starts burning). Is this an allergic reaction or is my skin just sensitive?
