I think it’s much more difficult than it used to be.

Potentially - but not because just by marrying him.

If you live in the UK WITH your spouse on a valid visa (which he has to sponsor, meeting minimum income requirements) for a number of years (5+), you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain; once you've held this for 12 months, you can start the citizenship application process.

(NB you'd be British, not English)

Regardless of what country you are seeking citizenship from, almost all require the applicant be a resident for a period of years. The exceptions are those countries which have an "investment" plan to first gain permanent residency and then citizenship. Costa Rica used to offer a passport to anyone investing as little as $10,000US in a real estate investment. If you are wanting to go to the US get help from a non-profit organization like gotoamerica.org

England does not have it's own citizenship.  If you are living in the UK, he can sponsor you for British citizenship - however, if you are legally living there, you just need time,  and to pass the test.

If you aren't living there, no.

If he's British and lives in the UK he could possibly sponsor your move there and in theory you could eventually work toward British citizenship.

IF your husband is UK citizen & qualifies to sponsor your visa, you could be allowed to enter UK & reside there with your husband on a temporary basis. The UK spouse must meet earnings requirements to support the spouse (& any child), and have a suitable home in UK for them. Since they cannot be receiving or have received any "benefits," they must purchase or rent their home on the open market, no council housing. Permission to enter is temporary, providing the marriage continues. Eventually, the spouse may apply & perhaps be approved for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), which is a legal permanent resident status. After fulfilling residency & other requirements, the immigrant spouse might qualify to apply for citizenship. All in all, it can easily take a decade or so for a foreign spouse to be approved to enter UK, & then obtain ILR, and perhaps eventually be approved for citizenship. Assuming the marriage is valid, and continues.

Doesn't work like that - you have to live there a while and swear allegiance to the monarchy.

Yes, though you have to be resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to application.

Btw it's British not English citizenship
