Is it wrong to pair different cheeses with scallops or other shellfish?

Who else is a fan of cheese, with seafood?

Are my tastebuds an affront to established norms?

    Not wrong.

It's breaking the established norms that we have such a wide and varied culinary menu and we discover new recipes. Taking a culinary risk isn't wrong or an affront. Eat what YOU like.

I don't know what backwoods tribal land in the Pakistani empty quarter you're living in where cheese on seafood is not normal, but you're going to be stoned to death for using the evil box (computers). So put it down, here comes Achmed.

I've never had cheese with shellfish but if that's what you like then it's fine.

There are some kinds of seafood that work with some kinds of cheese.  Say, like a tuna melt.  Or shrimp marinara with parmesan.

But in my experience, scallops aren't included in that list.
