    Yes, just use a USB cable that fits the camera and the computer

    You can connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable. If everything goes right, the computer will detect the camera and identify it as a (glorified) card reader. (This is perfectly normal by design.) When this happens, you can now safely copy photos from the camera to the computer.

    An easier method is to eliminate the camera altogether. Simply remove the memory card from the camera, insert it to a card reader, plug the card reader to the computer's USB slot and copy at will. Any cheap card reader will do (the cheaper, the better). This is the best method of copying photos from the camera to the computer according to both camera and computer experts.

    There are two ways you can do this, sir:

    > Connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable.  (The cable is a USB 2.0 Male to Mini-USB Male connector.) * Note this is Mini-USB and NOT Micro-USB, which is more up-to-date.

    > Use a memory card reader.  With a card reader, you simply pop the memory card out of your camera and into a memory card reader.

    You MAY find that some of the software, that is freely available from the Nikon website will be helpful to you.

    If you would have bothered to read camera's the manual, you would have found out that you can.

    It is faster to use a card reader.

    I don't know the answer, but what do you mean by "hook up" - tethering, use as a webcam, charge the battery, something else?

    <edit>

    Get a USB 3 card reader - they're cheap, much quicker and don't run down the camera's battery.
