What are some good workouts to do at gym to help lose body fat and gain muscle?

So i have been going to gym recently to try and lose some weight and gain some muscle in the process but i feel like it not really working. I know i can just go online and look up on there what are some of the best way to do that but i thought it might be a good idea to ask people and get a straight answer instead. I was wondering if anyone can tell me which machines at the gym would be best to use and also some other workouts that i can do at the gym as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
