    It's a figure of speech, meaning that you have shared ancestry with someone, but it doesn't guarantee that you share any chromosomes (or mitochondrial DNA) with him/her

    Yes that is correct, however when researching Genealogy the blood line is what is traced and documented.

    Yes blood or biological relation means by birth not marriage, so it means you share a 'blood line' and are related to a common ancestor

    Yes. "Blood" means you share a common ancestor. It doesn't mean you know them, nor, if you know them, that you consider them "close", nor, if you know them and consider them "close", that you like them. Jeffrey Dahmer probably has first cousins on his father's side who changed their surnames to "Martin".
