At daytime, the sand in a beach is hotter than the water.But at night time, it is the water hotter than the sand. What could the reason for this?

    Heat capacity of water is greater than sand, meaning that because of the huge volume of sea water the energy needed to raise its temperature is far more than needed to heat up a small surface area of the beach
