how has covid affected the economy in terms of manufacturing and exporting goods?

It likely varies by country, but for the US:
Manufacturing is down, due to the COVID crisis. In the US we lost about 1.5 million manufacturing jobs in the early stages of the pandemic. Some have come back, but we're still down from the beginning of the year.
Exports are also down, due partly to supply chain bottlenecks, as well as demand destruction. US exports were down by about 18% in August 2020, y-o-y.

30 million unemployment in the US. But the manufacturing keeps coming in. The word demand is on the tarmac. Every country is on the negative sign.
