Bought a car but the seller didn't give me the title?

    No, you didn't buy the car. The seller must complete the Title & give it to you & you must take that to the DMV.

    Then you have not bought a car.  You have merely given money to someone.  Buying a car consists of two things: paying, and getting the title, and paying is the less important of the two.  It is not your car.  Giving someone money does not make the car yours.  It becomes yours when the title is transferred.

    You have that backwards.  YOU shouldn't have given him money without FIRST getting a merchantable title from him.

    Then why were you stupid enough to give them the money?! The first thing you should have done is make sure the title VIN matched the VIN on the car and that there was no lean on the title.
