is socialism where people get money from the government and do not need to work?
if we have more free time under socialism to enjoy the things we like in life, why not try it? we can always go back to capitalism in 4 years
if no one can be forced to work in socialism, does that also include parents not being able to force us to do chores

No, socialism is a command economy system in which government owns industry and determines the allocation and usage of wealth. Rather than the interplay of consumers and business firms in the market, the government allocates resources.
In a market system, wealth is earned through labor and used as the exchange medium for scarce resources - food, computers, movies, you name it. Whoever is willing to pay the price for the good or service gets it. If no one wants it for a particular price, the seller firm must either lower the price or not get a profit. If the producing firm drops the price beyond the equilibrium balance point, they will not maximize profit and also run out of the good or service.
In socialism, one's labor is given as wealth to the government, who decides how to spend that wealth in the most "equitable" way. The doctor and the janitor, the lawyer and the bum, the soldier and the criminal all get the same, regardless of how much they put into the system. The person who hates bananas gets the banana anyway. The person who wants the rice might not get it at all. It is an inherently inefficient system because it does not respond to basic laws of supply and demand. It is arbitrary and as history has shown is often capricious.
In the 40 or so times socialism or communism have been attempted, it has always resulted in shortages. All socialist systems become market systems within a few years - even Communist China has embraced capitalism and has become more market based than most of the rest of the world. Socialism is a joke that enriches political elites (the ones who get to decide where the money goes) and impoverishes everyone else. But at least everyone is equally poor. Heaven forfend that people who work more earn more, right?

Americans wont try it (and don't know what it is) because there are very rich corporations and their lobby groups out there that drill it into your head that it is a bad thing.

Actually, that is not socialism. Socialism is about who owns and controls key elements of the economy. Simply taxing large corporations and the very wealthy does not equal socialism as the owners and controllers of society essentially stay intact. What you describe is a capitalist system with a generous welfare safety net. Real socialism would be looking to convert businesses (especially the big ones) into employee ownership and establishing workers cooperatives to broaden the wealth distribution in society. A socialist society might have social safety net benefits for those who need them, but that alone does not make for a socialist society.

We need a new form of socialism. People do need money to cover their basic needs, but getting money for nothing is not healthy.
There should be some form of social payback via volunteering. T
here should be an educational component where getting along with people is taught. People should also study Nature's system of integrality and connection so be better understand our impact of our actions in the world.

IT IS WHERE YOU WORK IF YOU WANT TO AND DON'T WORK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO AND YOU HOPE ENOUGH PEOPLE DECIDE TO WORK TO TAKE CARE OF YOU

Socialism is where people are paid a wage which allows them to provide for themselves and their families.
Socialism is where people have protections with laws which protect them from exploitation and discrimination.
Socialism is where people are put before profit, where health care, education, pensions are seen as a right for all the people.
In America billions of tax payers money goes to companies like Walmart, A company who make a great deal of money, yet get huge amounts in subsidies paid for with your taxes yet their workers, get welfare because they pay their workers such low wages.
Surely that should cause more outrage than people who get unemployment, pensions, medical treatment or food stamps for their children?

Socialism is where the power elites of govt - like Nasty Pelosi - control you, control what you are allowed to think, say, do, make, have. And as long as you behave, you can wait a decade or so for one measly pair of shoddy winter boots, and hope after the harvest in September, the mills will work so that you can buy a loaf of bread. If you "don't need to work," relying on living off others, nothing is produced, so you get nothing but an ever-smaller amount of worthless scrip until it all collapses. Socialist, Communist, Fascist - all are control-freak govts which guarantee poverty for all but the power elite, and guarantee lack of any personal freedom, and guarantee economic & social collapse. Study history. "Those who fail to learn from the past are condemned to repeat it."

Yes, socialism makes people lazy and that is why we need capitalists like Trump.
