The problem is that when a timing belt breaks on an "interference" engine, it usually results in major damage to the engine.  Take it to a mechanic and ask him.  But it will almost surely be more than the car is worth.  I've had two timing belts break, but fortunately they were older cars, so no damage.  Just replace the belts.

Easily can destroy the engine.. My friend paid over $8,000 for his volkswagon.. Another friend years back paid $3500 for a used honda civic engine.. No matter what it is not good.. 2004 is probably not worth fixing..

All Hyundai engines are of the 'Interference' designs. That means if the timing belt breaks, the pistons strike the valves, bending them and creating a big repair bill. The head will need to come off and the head rebuilt. A junk yard engine may be cheaper than fixing it.

the timing will have to be adjusted and then the belt replaced, the question is did the belt breaking cause any internal damages ....
