Is there an adaptor to connect a ethernet line phone to the router without the cable?

I have to hook up a ethernet phone line directly to my router.  the problem is my router is in the basement and my home office is in the upstairs bedroom.  is there a wireless device that i can plug into the ethernet port on the phone that can pick up the wifi signal so i can avoid the use of the line?

you need a wireless Access Point.

Get a softphone, one that runs on your computer instead of using a dedicated phone.  Which softphone you get will depend on the use case for the phone.  If you're connecting to a corporate network, you should use the softphone that is associated with your companies phone system.

With a softphone you use a headset w/microphone connected to your PC and a "phone" application running on the PC.

You can get a WiFi router with a built-in modem (either cable or ADSL).
