"It means", "this means", "that means". Are all three of these used or people always just use "that means"? ?

“This means” is what i use when i am showing something to someone, specifically something i can hold in my hand or find in a book.  “It means” is what i use when i use the term “clutch” and my mother doesn’t know it means “handy”.  “That means” is what i use when i’m showing something from far away or when my mom shows me something on her phone and i have to explain it to her

All three are used fairly commonly, but which is chosen depends on the situation.

We use all three, depending on the situation.

It depends on preferences of the speakers and also on circumstances.
