Is it possible for humans to build a colony orbiting Uranus, or would they get sucked into the darkness?

It is like a tight black hole in there, and they would most likely get squeezed until they popped.

Maybe not on Uranus itself, but perhaps one of its many moons, as Uranus itself has no solid surface to walk on. The deeper one goes into the atmosphere, the pressure and temperature will increase, eventually leading to the atmosphere going into a "critical state" in which the environment can exist as a solid, liquid, and gas simultaneously. Such a state of matter is difficult to recreate on earth as the needed pressures and temperatures are not yet able to be fully recreated in a lab to study. So to answer your question, orbiting yes. Landing? No.
