On pages, can you make one line 1 column and the next 2 columns?

    In Word, I think these are 'section breaks'. Create a new section, set column width, and then set new section break to return to single column.

    Yes, no problem.

    Just make sure the columns don't spill to the next page.

    Yes most word processing AND spreadsheet programs can do this.  Look up the program and tips and tricks with columns onGoogle, and you should find some great help.

    In LibreOffice, yes, and I assume it's also possible in Microsoft Word and other editors.

    You would define a text block as being single column, and another below it as being 2 columns.
