Should the military be nicer to recruits?

    Why? If you can't cut the mustard expected of you. You chose such if US military, isn't such expected to break you down. Then, isn't the idea to take this mold of a person to be better for it. Method of the insanity? Grow up!

    If they were, would it make the recruits more comfortable? No way! The military is not a huge man-cave. They're there for a purpose and that is to die for their country. That's the nicest way to put it!

    The military has people who've seen combat or have mental disorders for some other reason.  There's no way around it.  But most drill sergeants and authoritarians in uniform are sane people.  Learn obedience and go with the program.

    If recruits wanted "nice" they wouldn't have joined.
