Ratings are down. Worst in over a decade. They are finally just over 2 million viewers for Finals Games, when their should be 2x to 4x that number.
It's hockey off season. We are used to hockey starting up now, not winding down. Meanwhile they are competing with all sports being back. And we are stuck with two Southern States teams most of North America doesn't care about. Then neutral location sites with no fans means even the team hosts cities don't have the hype you normally see.

Depends on where you look. Overall pre-COVID shutdown ratings in both Canada and the US were up slightly.
However the Stanley Cup Final ratings are tanking badly compared to LY.
Sportsnet/CBC is down more than 25% from 2019 numbers (the MLB Jays ratings are up so that could be some of it).
For the first three games, NBC's ratings are down 60% to LY.
