Why don't asylum seekers flock to Ireland?

Ireland goes under the radar but is actually an incredibly wealthy country. The haven't run up massive debts because they make the British fight their wars. Their GDP per capita is significantly higher than the UK and Australia. They have successfully made themselves the tax haven of the EU. All the big tech companies in Europe are located there. The refugees should paddle to Ireland. They have enough potatoes now.

Some years ago, possibly about 15 years, the Irish economy was in trouble, with several large building projects left half-finished because of lack of finance. Has the Republic of Ireland recovered and prospered since then?
