You would be better getting smaller wheels 16 or 17 in rims and then you have more options re profile of the tyre.

You could get a decent used set on eBay and probably sell your 18in ones for a bit more.

Depending on the stud pattern, 225/40r 18 covers a lot if cars.

if you changed to 225.50.18 you would get a more comfortable ride ..the tyre is 22mm taller ..should be ok but have no idea how much wheel arch clearance you have ...most speedo`s read fast ..with this tyre its probably close to exact ..check it out

As you go UP in series (40-50-60)  the tire is going to get taller if you leave the 225 the same.   A taller tire means you will have less fender well clearance and your speedometer and odometer are going to be way off.   What you will have to do is get narrower tires.    So 215 R 50 or 205 R 60 might work.   You really need to go to a tire shop and talk to them because if you screw it up you will have an expensive mistake.

What does the tire spec. label list as stock tires for your vehicle/ the tire spec label is in the drivers door opening under the door latch.

Yes, clearance for the larger tires is the key. That is doubly true for the front wheels.

yep, you can go to 225-60R18 IF you have wheel-well clearance.
