Which word is correct?
There is a vial (of / for / holding) flu vaccine on the counter.

Majority will say "of" is the correct way to go. It is certainly the most common way most native speakers would phrase this.
Anon is not wrong tho either: if you think about each option, they do (or can be made to) make sense. The biggest stretch is "holding" - most native speakers would say "containing," which is the same thing as "of" just expressed differently.

In this context, only the frst and third are synonymous. I'd go with the first (of).
