    In the UK they are essential for 'stop start' cars. They can handle the extra duties of frequently restarting the engine.  Stop-start is a system on most modern cars that cuts the engine when the car is stationary in order to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

    Well now, lazybones, If you bothered to read about them on ANY  website where they are sold, you'd discover that an internal fiberglass matt absorbs electrolite to help prevent leakage and spillage. Their basic use is off road vehicles where a case might get cracked. For ordinary street vehicles there's no real benefit except in accidents.
