    38 = AD = AB+BC+CD = 2x+2 +10 + 2x+2 = 10 + 2(2x+2);

    2(2x+2) = 38-10 = 28;

    (2x+2) = CD = 14.

     The length of CD if AD = 38:

     AD = AB + BC + CD 

           = (2x + 2) + 10 + (2x + 2)

     4x + 14 = 38

     x = 6

     CD = 14

    If 2x+2+10+2x+2x+2 = 38 then 4x+14 = 38 and solving the equation x = 6

    Therefore length CD: (2*6)+2 = 14
