Sadly, no cure for diabetes currently exists, but the disease can go into remission. A person goes into diabetes remission when the body does not show any signs of diabetes, although the disease is technically still present. According to Diabetes Care, remission can be of different forms:

    ● Partial remission: When blood glucose level is lower than that of a person with diabetes for at least 1 year without needing any diabetes medication.

    ● Complete remission: When the blood glucose level returns to normal and stays there for at least 1 year without any medications.

    ● Prolonged remission: When complete remission lasts for at least 5 years.

--  You do not, you have it for life. A person can only control it by eating and exercising well.  Possibly, you may have to take tablets or even go in to take insulin.

--  Diabetes leads to other medical problems -- kidney failure, eye problems, blood circulation problems including gangrene of the feet and hands etc. if not kept under control along with other ailments.
