What are prepaid smartphones?

I am confused. Do they come with a specific sim card and a number?

Can you extend their date or does the numbers expire?

You fully pay for the phone "up front", rather than the cost being spread over a contract of 12 - 24 months.

They usually come with a prepay SIM, which you need to top up as you use it to keep the service active.

You can use a contact SIM from the same provider if you like; only the prepay (aka pay-as-you-go) SIM expires, the phone is yours.

Or you can request the phone is unlocked from that provider so you can use any SIM.

Depending on the provider they all say different things. I had one where they would cut it off if it went six months without a top up.

they last until you stop paying or close the account.
