Is it true that the concept of primitive human savages is a myth?

My teacher says that all human cultures throughout histories have been genuine civilizations.  She says that savages and cannibals never really existed and that those are inventions of European explorers to justify killing the native populations and stealing their resources.  She says that indigenous peoples worldwide led peaceful, harmonious lives where war was more of a sport than serious killing and that they only learned real warfare from Europeans.  Is this true or is it all just politically correct nonsense?

Headhunting did exist among some indigenous people in New Guinea and Borneo. Conflicts and warfare between tribes in the Amazon were real. Civilization is the result of agriculture. Before agriculture was invented, humans lived in small groups of hunter gatherers. Many people still live this way. Hunter gatherers like the Vikings raided other people, and even civilized people conduct warfare against one another. The city states of ancient Greece fought each other. China has dynasties and civil wars for thousands of years. The communists overthrew the Nationalists soon after World War II. Warfare is not a myth. Even our closest living relative, the chimpanzee, regularly kill males of neighboring troops and territorial fights are frequent.

Oswald Hope Robertson was white (English) and invented the blood bank which has saved literally over a billion human lives.

Penicillin (which has saved from 80 million to 200 million human lives was discovered by white Scottish man Alexander Fleming.

Pasteurization (which has saved over 200 million lives) was invented by white Frenchman Louis Pasteur.

White Swedish man Rune Elmqvist invented the first pacemaker which has saved millions of lives.

Chinese people invented the first gun (not just gunpowder and fireworks). A Jewish male invented the nuke. Christopher Columbus was Italian aka non-white. The Portuguese aka non-whites started the Atlantic slave trade. Spaniards aka non-whites exterminated the Native Americans. Native Americans of the five civilized tribes owned black slaves at the same rate as Southern whites and held them for longer (since the 13th amendment didn't apply to Indian nations). Stalin was an ethnic Georgian i.e. person of color. Mao Zedong was a person of color. China causes the most pollution in the world. The United Arab Emirates causes more pollution per capita.  Child marriage is legal in black African and brown middle eastern Muslim countries.

Your teacher is neither right, nor totally wrong.  Cannibals certainly existed and certainly do still exist.  The term "savage" (when used as a noun for members of a group of people) is almost always a sign that the speaker is dismissing or discounting the fact that the people being described have religious, moral, and ethical concepts motivating their behaviour - just like people in the Western Civilization do when they war or carry out genocide.

All peoples have the capacity of being savage toward other humans - but labeling them as "savages" is different from just acknowledging their savagery.  It's saying that there is something about their nature that sets them apart from people like those in the West - which is untrue.  People in the West can be very savage, just like those in Borneo or the Amazon or anywhere else.  Calling one group "savages" implyies that the other group is NOT "savages", and there's no evidence to suggest that difference exists, much less is a matter of someone's inherent nature.

Can't be true. Just look at Washington, D.C. as proof.
