Homeless people don't have "so much money". They are pretty much broke.

Yeah regular and even "wealthy" new yorkers eat liver, pigeons and mutton. What is old is new again. Sad. Glad i can still buy hammburgers and other normal food here in Florida where I have lived since 68!!

Why are their homeless veterans if the government spends 100s of billions on the military every year.
- tham153Lv 74 weeks ago
Homelessness has a variety of causes. Studies show about a quarter are military veterans suffering PTSD. A high percentage of the remainder have drug abuse problems. But there is also a significant percentage of families with children who are homeless simply because the family breadwinner lost his/her job. I seriously doubt any homeless eat pigeons, which are (a) too small to provide a decent meal, (b) next to impossible to catch, (c) likely diseased or infected with parasites. The city tries to provide semi-decent housing for families and horrendous dormitories for single men. Courts say no one can be forced unless they are endangered by weather or other factors.

They are drug addicts and mentally ill. They all need to be rounded up and sent to places to be helped. But liberal idiots have determined that they have "rights" to live on the street and eat pigeons if they choose. Vote for SloJoe and the democraps and you can soon join them.

Homelessness comes about through drug addiction, crime, and mental illness, mainly. Money alone cannot solve such problems.

Homeless people in NYC don't have much money, but that's only part of the reason they're homeless. Mental illness and drug & alcohol abuse are the main causes. During the pandemic, NYC were housing the homeless in hotels but that program may have ended already.
