Why are cuban resteraunts pretty pricy ?

Is it because it's not nearly as noted as Mexican food, so the only way they can make money is if they make their resteraunts seem more upscale than mexican resteraunts and charge higher prices do to a lower quantity of people coming through the door and get away with charging higher prices by making you think you're at high class place by having steak, wine, rum, distinctive coffee and things like that.

  • That's a flawed premise. Around where I live (Los Angeles) Cuban food is part of the low to mid-range ethnic food situation. Some foods at a Cuban restaurant can be more expensive because of sourcing some of the ingredients (have you seen the price of mamey?) but the overall prices are really good.

Because they want people to think cuban cuisine is exotic
