UK was doomed when maggie thatcher decimated manufacturing and adopted ronald reagans housing boom and bust

now the country is dependant on consumerism, trapping current and future rental generations

a working population on minimum wage and zero hour contracts will have little or no disposable income

an ageing population that seldom spends cannot sustain a consumer market

baby boomers and thatcherism has destroyed UK, brexit will be the final straw

in the end someone has to pay, this time it will be the elderly

    do the maths

Yes, they will, because they can adapt to on-line business.  It is the large organizations that are going to find it difficult.  There is no room for sentiment in business: somebody either wants your product or service or they don't. That demand will return in time. Take the tin foil hat off your head and look at the reality.

I think very few of them will cope this time round.

It is like 'raking the forests' - cleaning out the brushwood.   All the businesses which were about to go to the wall will just go there a bit quicker.

Very few will survive and lockdowns are a waste of timethey don't solve anything. It's time Boris stopped listening to the mad scientists and used some common sense.

  • It will be disastrous for our economy which is why Boris Johnson is reluctant to order a full lockdown. He is facing the most difficult decision since 1939 when war broke out with Germany so cut the poor guy some slack.

The key thing will be whether the NHS is overwhelmed. They still have the Nightingale hospitals available so that is unlikely. Most people needing to shield don't work anyway, so business can continue and schools can remain open. They have a better picture of where incidents are happening than before so any restrictions can be targeted. Leisure/hospitality industries will remain vulnerable but there is not much that can be done about them if there are no overseas visitors. Your idea that SMEs are somehow being targeted is a complete nonsense - many small businesses can be flexible about working from home. Big job losses are in the mainstream retail sector, but a lot of that was going to happen anyway.

Great Britain, France, Spain are all getting another surge of it.  You can find a covid statistics map and get the numbers and graphs that show what is going on, more or less.  Or what countries lie.  The communist countries either lie or just shoot anyone who is sick.

If you are incapable of sensible reasoning, it's a waste of time trying to explain.

Mostly yes they will survive, they are only being told to close by 10PM in some regions, not all over the UK and most of them do close by that time anyway or not much later. It's only bad for nightclubs because people expect them to be open until 2AM and will stop going. No, there isn't going to be another massive lockdown like before.
