What's the point of playing a game you're gonna lose ?

    Because it can be a valuable learning experience.  Life is random.  It's possible to do everything virtually perfectly, but still not succeed.  It's possible to "phone it in" & still win by a rout.  It's true that "You never know until you try."  In losing, you often learn important points about how to win the next time around.  You show yourself & the world that you're resilient: you can take it.  There's such a thing as being a "beautiful loser."
