Why is there such a MASSIVE difference in the lives of the rich and the lives of the poor?

Celebrities living in wine country going on vacations every month, traveling the world with butlers and on fancy cruises, driving around beautiful cars, dating beautiful women or studly men, never having a worry in the world or pressure to go to work everyday. Dribbling a basketball for hundreds of millions of dollars. Making fun movies for millions to watch. Producing music for millions to listen to. They live life on their own terms. True freedom. Compare that to poor people who work 50 hours a week cleaning toilets at Holiday Inn, just to end up in debt and poverty anyways

Those people have rare skills that are in extremely high demand that generate enormous amounts of revenue.  People pay top dollar to watch LeBron James and Anthony Davis put a ball in a hoop but very few do the same for whoever is in the WNBA because it is just not as entertaining or impressive.  Some actors get paid millions, others get paid $100 a day as an extra because they have no talent.  Anyone can go clean toilets at a Holiday Inn, not everybody can play a convincing autistic man in front of a camera.

I am friends with an Oscar winning actor.  You'd be surprised how his life isn't all that different from everyone else.  He lives in a 4 bedroom, 2200 square foot house with a decent view and throws pretty fantastic parties at a luxury hotel, but other than that he still has his wife make him dinner and reads the newspaper while taking a poop.  He is trying to raise his daughter out of the limelight and is pretty obsessive about that.

Those people think having so much money will solve their problems.  In truth all that is nothing more than an accumulation of problems.  Problems that encumber the mind so much that it has no time for itself.  Poor indeed, and unable to fix it.  That is rich full of problems.

because the middle class hasn't risen up and exterminated the celebrities.  This needs to happen before any true change can happen!!!!

Because there is a MASSIVE difference between their bank accounts.

I don't think having tons of money will make you happy. But having enough for a decent living will. And there are problems that can't be fixed with money.

Don't we all have access to clean water, sewer systems, roads, food, electricity, education, entertainment, etc.  People are not all the same.  Some choose to make themselves more valuable to society by developing their individual knowledge, skills, and abilities while others make no effort and work at unskilled jobs.  The true issue is that if you make the effort, you can better your income.  It's all about individual ambition and effort.  Looking back at history, everyone is society has it better off than people in the middle ages--including the wealthy.  Society will continue to develop as long as those who make the effort are rewarded--if it were left to people who only look at the outcomes and wallow in envy, we would never advance as a civilization.  Capitalism not only creates wealth, it makes sure that society advances--helping everyone.

It's a complex dance involving economic advantage and political manipulation = money & power. Rich people elect politicians who will favor their side. Taxes on the wealthy go down, social programs get cut, regulations on big corporations become lax,.. all factors which only help the rich get richer. More money translates to more power, so that vicious cycle continues to spiral upward, benefiting only those at the top. It's a classic societal model that's persisted for centuries.

If rich celebrities are enjoying their life so much, why do so many of them have drink and drug issues, why are so many of them addicted to new religions and why are so many of them depressed!

Money helps, but money won't make you happy for very long, if you only share it with shallow people, who are only your 'friends' cos' of your money.
