Deleting files on a full D: recovery drive?

I have a windows 10 64 bit HP small Desktop P-270. I have had to reset and now my recovery D: is now full. How can I delete files in the drive without deleting the Recovery system program files.  Or can I just format Drive D and not affect the restore features?

The recovery drive shouldn’t normally be touched. It is a small (usually 500MB or so) partition created by windows during the install process. Leaving it will do no harm.
