How does Butler get away in NBA without wearing social messages on his back?
Jimmy Butler came out in the first game with no message and no name on the back of his jersey. He was asked to put on a legal jersey. The message was that without a name, Jimmy Butler was just another black kid and that's how he would have been treated in the real world.
They spoke about this on one of the ECF broadcasts

It's the player's choice whether to use a message or not.

Because he couldn’t care less what people around think of him so he doesn’t have the need to change himself and virtue signal to get validation from people. Whatever socio-political cause he believes in, if he chose to do it in his personal time and not in the basketball court that is alright and people should respect that.
Problem with a lot of far leftist and inter-sectional political groups today is they are so polarized that anyone who don't openly express agreement is suspected as an enemy. As the saying goes: "Skeptics are treated as blasphemers, Indifference is becomes equal to hate"If you don't openly show you agree to us, then you don't support us.If you don't support us, then you are against usTherefore you are an enemy that must be dealt with

Because he's winning right now. Also, because he gives positively zero F's what other people think about him and he's made that very clear to everyone over the years. If he doesn't want to wear a message he's not going to wear one. Period. He is who he is, he's not going to change for anyone and other players know it so they don't question him. Did I mention he's also winning right now?
