Do you HAVE to wear a mask in Central London or is it just advice?

Update:

I'd appreciate helpful answers if possible please. I ask because hear that the official advice is to wear a mask yet I see people in London without them all the time.

The answer from 'John' was hurtful.   For good reasons of rapidly evolving medical perceptions, advice about precautions concerning Covid-19 has been complex in the last several weeks, so it is understandable that many people have become uncertain about the use of masks.

No, wear face covering in enclosed spaces like shops or public transport.

You HAVE to wear a mask on public transport and in shops, museums etc.

You don't have to wear one walking around outside, or if you're eating in a cafe / restaurant.

Only when on public transport or in shops. No need to wear them in the street. Children and some people with health conditions are exempt. In galleries and exhibitions etc in enclosed spaces it is recommended. Just keep a paper one in a clean bag ready to use when needed.

In shops it's compulsory, on the streets, in pubs and restaurants NO.

So sorry that you are of the tiny brained folk. Best that you just stay home.
