Can a Clarinet in Bb easily play music in A Major key or would that be better suited for clarinet in A, or does it matter?

A clarinet that is pitched in Bb would have to play a piece written in in A major, concert key, in the key of B - 5 sharps.  So yes - and A clarinet would be an advantage, since your part would then be written in the key of C.  If your facility is good on the Bb, then by all means, play in 5 sharps - but that A clarinet exists for a reason.  So did/does the Db piccolo, and many other transposing woodwinds.
