Is assimilation normal in human history?

In cases where a minority culture is introduced into a majority culture, is it the norm that the minority culture assimilates into the majority?

    Agree with first answer.

In many cases, the minority culture was assimilated into the majority culture.

In many cases, the minority culture was assimilated only through application of suppression / oppression by the majority culture.

In many cases, the minority culture was wiped out.

In many cases the minority culture continued to exist, usually despite legal suppression or oppression.

And note that there are also many cases

in which a minority culture ruling class

assimilated the majority culture into their minority culture

    often by force

    but sometimes by inducement.

No. Most minority cultures are enslaved by the other. Hence the term minority. They've to wait for the next group of minorities.

That's on a case by case basis w/ so many different examples and opinions, "normal" is debatable.
