How great would it be if humans were capable of just ignoring what they disagree with?

Don't like taking the knee by atheletes... completely ignore it and just don't acknowledge it. Let them do what they want and move on. Don't like the BLM protesting? Ignore it. Don't even respond. Don't like religion? Completely ignore it and don't give it any place in your life. Why are we incapable of doing this? If we could just do this simple thing, we'd have less arguing, less bickering, and "live and let live" would be the main way to live. For some reason though human beings are drawn to drama and become obsessed with what everyone else thinks and feels. Why is it impossible for us to "live and let live?"

I do that - ignoring with what is disagreeable.

But not every thing can be ignored. There are times when those disagreeables keep coming at you so much so that the only way to stop it is to respond.

The real capability is in resolving disagreement.

All humans are free to ignore anything they want to ignore. The things in question will still be ongoing. You need to train your mind if you want to ignore things often in the news. It sounds as if you manage to get yourself worked up about much of the modern world.

We shouldn't just ignore everything we disagree with, but we shouldn't make it our personal mission to destroy everything we disagree with either.  Maybe we should look into things we disagree with, and see if there's something important that we're missing.  It would be a mistake to assume that we know everything.

Judging by the actions of World leaders I thought this was already the case.

By that same thought nobody would need to obey driving laws, pay for anything from the store,  could walk into anyone's home at any time and could hit anyone they want.

    What did you say?.....

  • No because then we would lose all freedom

    freedom is very important

I agree that it would be a good thing if people could do that at least some of the time (some things cannot be ignored, such as injustice), but it's not really an issue for discussion on philosophy. Being more related to behavior and emotions its more suited for the psychology and sociology forums instead.
